Call of the Ancestors was founded on the belief that the strength of our communities lies in our connection to those who came before us. We honor that legacy by equipping today's generation with the knowledge, networks, and resources needed to build a better tomorrow.
Through the Academic Associates Reading Center and Folasade Press, we publish, educate, and organize — creating pathways for African American families to achieve economic independence, educational excellence, and civic leadership.

Our History
Where We Come From
The Academic Associates Reading Center was established to address a critical gap in culturally affirming educational resources for African American families. What began as a small community reading initiative grew into a full publishing house and membership organization.
Folasade Press, LLC was founded as the publishing arm of our work, bringing original scholarship and community voices to print. Our first major publication, Call of the Ancestors, captures the spirit of our mission and has become a cornerstone resource for members nationwide.
